Become a Clean-Up Ambassador

Do you want to get involve in making the Brussels‑ Capital Region a cleaner and more pleasant place to live? As an individual, you have the power to act and to organise clean-ups in your road, neighbourhood or community.

  • You can organise or take part in one or more clean-ups whenever you like. You have total autonomy. 
  • You’ll receive your own supplies: a free clean‑ up kit. 
  • There’s also a team option which allows you to join forces with other Ambassadors.

How do I become a Clean-Up Ambassador?

By following these 5 easy steps:

  3. Collect the free clean-up kit locally 
  4. Carry out a clean-up, alone or as a team 
  5. Register the bags 
  6. Repeat as often as you like

What’s a clean-up kit? 

Our kits are designed to allow you to work comfortably, efficiently and safely. 
 
Ambassadors receive free kits which they can collect locally. For larger scale clean-up initiatives, Bruxelles-Propreté provides kits to charities, schools and citizen groups.

Each kit includes: 

  • A clean-up vest
  • A roll of bags for non-recyclables (white) 
  • A roll of PMC bags for recyclables (blue) 
  • Litter pickers 
  • A pair of gloves 
  • A scale 

Why organise a clean-up?

As an Ambassador with your own clean-up kit, you don’t have to organise your clean-up. 
However, there are some great reasons why you should:

  • You can form an open team: if you plan and announce your clean-up, other Ambassadors will be able to join your team. The bigger the team, the more litter you can collect ;-) 
  • You’ll be helping our waste collection vehicles: organised clean-ups allow our teams to better plan for speedy waste collections.
     

 

Become a team leader!

There are two options: 

  • When yo sign up to be an Ambassador, you can also create a team using the link and then manage the team. How does it work? You organise the clean-up (date, time, location) and you share this info with the members of your team using the link. - Your teammates are already registered as Clean-Up Ambassadors, so they already have a personal area and their free clean‑up kit. You just need to invite them to join you by sharing the link. 
  • Your friends are not already registered as Ambassadors: they don’t have to register and can join your team using your invitation link. The team leader is then responsible for collecting the free clean-up kits for the participants who are not (yet) Ambassadors. 
    The team leader is also responsible for registering the bags on the platform at the end of the clean‑up.

How do I join a team?

A team can have a maximum of 10 participants.
The team leader chooses their type of team.

  • Open team: the team leader chooses to make their team public. It’s visible on the Bruxelles-Propreté calendar, allowing other Ambassadors to join your clean-up. 
  • By opting for a public team, you agree to set a clean-up date and you are required to accept all participants who come forward (up to a team of 10 people maximum).
